Orientation Sessions
Orientation sessions take place at the beginning of each recruiting cycle. During the session deadlines, and interview and training dates, will be announced. All applicants must be able to attend all dates for the entirety of the interview/training period, no exceptions will be made under any circumstances.

Submitting Applications
After having attended an orientation session, applicants must submit their applications before the posted deadline. Applications must be submitted by email to recruiting@overt.ca as one, single PDF document. Zip files or other formatted files will not be accepted. Applications must contain all of the following documents:
Interview Stage
Selected candidates will be given an interview slot. Interviews are held in front of a panel of seasoned OVERT members to assess the strength of their candidacy. Candidates must bring their passport or permanent resident card or Canadian birth certificate, and their driver’s license to the interview to be checked for validity.
Conditional Offer
Candidates selected after the interview stage are given a conditional offer to join the new recruit class. New recruits will undergo training in classrooms and in the field. In-class training is approximately 36 hrs long, and held over two weekends. The new recruit field day is a 12hr long day of training in daylight and nighttime.
During in-class training, candidates will purchase their uniform from OVERT for use during the field day. Uniform costs, combined with costs for boots and other essential equipment, range from $300-$500.
Probation Status
New recruits who successfully pass the training will be granted probationary member status on the team. Probation lasts for 1 year. During the probation period, members cannot join specialty units.
All members must complete certain training hours and event hours each year to stay members of OVERT. This includes a minimum of 18 training hours and 12 event hours per year.
Board of Director positions are year appointment positions, elected by team membership at each AGM. Members of the Board of Directors jointly oversee the activities and business operations of the organization. Individuals interested in applying for a position on the Board of Directors are encouraged to contact Human Resources.
